How to Play
You can start playing anytime by going to the Play page. The game client works in your browser and requires Flash.
Logging into the Game
Select a user name and click the Log In button. Galactic Front does not require you to register an account.
In a future release, players will have the option to create an account so the web site can track their game statistics and maintain top player records.
Choosing a Game Scenario
After logging in, you will be presented with a list of the current running game scenarios. Different scenarios have different objectives. In Conquest, for example, there are two teams, and the first team to conquer all the planets on the map wins.
If the scenario you selected is team-based, you will also be asked to select a team.
Playing the Game
In most scenarios, you will start the game orbiting your team's station. The station is a safe zone. It is not possible to fire weapons into or out of a station's orbit.
The Display
There are four parts to the game display: the Viewport, the Comm window, the Status, and the Map.
The Viewport
The largest part of the display shows you your immediate surroundings. Your ship is at the center of the viewport.
The Comm Window
Watch the Comm window for messages from other players and important game updates.
Status
Your ship's position, energy, and shields are displayed in the Status window. Watch your shields carefully. If they drop to zero, your ship is destroyed.
The Map
You can see the entire game field at once on the Map. Your ship is represented by a yellow dot. Other ships are represented by dots of their team's color. Planets are larger dots. Neutral planets are white. The largest dots are stations.
Controlling Your Ship
Use the arrows to move. Left and right arrows rotate. The up arrow thrusts forward.
Shoot your missiles with the space bar.
When you are orbiting a neutral or hostile planet, you can attempt to conquer it by pressing the C key.
When you are orbiting a friendly planet or your station, you can repair your shields by pressing the R key.
Send a message to other players by pressing the ' (quotation mark) key. Type your message and press enter. You can cancel a message by pressing the Esc key.
Winning
How you win depends on the game scenario's objectives. The most common objective is to conquer all the planets.
